The Lake District

Sitting in our hotel room in Newcastle,  I asked Tricia if she had ever been to the Lake District. Since she had never visited that part of the UK, I decided that a detour to the area would be a good way of spending our travel day. Where to go? The obvious answer was Windermere, so we plotted our journey on the GPS and set off. On the way to Windermere, we had to travel over the Kirkstone Pass, which at 450 metres high gave us stunning views and this great picture.

Travel Tip: The Ship Inn at Bowness-on-Windermere serves great fish and chips and has tables with a lakeside view. Ticks all our boxes. There is a car park opposite charging £4 for three hours. Recommended.
